Plugs

Type A & B

Type A

Two flat parallel pins. Used for non-grounded appliances like phone chargers and lamps.

Type B

Two flat pins plus a round grounding pin. Standard for laptops and heavy-duty electronics.

⚠️ Power Converter vs. Adapter

A plug adapter only changes the shape of the pins. If your device is only rated for 230V (common in UK/EU), you will need a Voltage Converter to step down the North American 120V power, or the device will not function correctly.

⚠️ Dual Voltage Check

Before plugging in hair dryers or kettles from Europe (230V), check the label for "Input: 100-240V". If it only says 230V, you need a Power Converter, not just a plug adapter, to avoid damaging your device.

Pro Traveler Tip: Most modern smartphone and laptop chargers are "Universal Voltage" and only require a simple physical plug adapter for North America.
